Infrared Included

I use an infrared camera on every inspection at no additional charge because it can help to identify problems that aren't readily visible to the naked eye.

Please note that this is not an extensive, all-inclusive infrared inspection, but used as an additional tool to support my visual observations.

Infrared imaging simply shows surface temperature differences. An infrared camera cannot see through walls, clothing, or any other surfaces.

An infrared camera can help to identify moisture problems like leaking pipes, failing roofs, and moisture hidden behind ceilings, walls, flooring, and other areas.

Failing electrical outlets and overheated circuits or wires may give off excess heat that can be invisible to the naked eye, but may be easily seen with an infrared camera.

Infrared imaging also helps to identify missing insulation, windows leaking air, and other areas of concern that can increase a home’s energy bill.

The following two photos illustrate the differences between what the naked eye sees and what the infrared camera sees. To the unaided eye, the two glasses appear to be identical. However, the infrared camera clearly shows that the glass on the left contains hot water and the glass on the right contains cold water.
